Christian Education
Learning is a vital part of a being a disciple of Jesus. At St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, all members, from toddlers to elders, continually learn more and more about worshiping God, following Jesus, and serving others through the power of the Holy Spirit. There are multiple opportunities for Christian Education during the week and on Sunday mornings.
The Youth Sunday School classes are not so much a “school” but a laboratory for the budding faith of young people. Each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. during the school year, children from Kindergarten through High School gather with adult teachers to immerse themselves in the stories of the Bible as well as the beginnings of Christian stewardship and worship. These classes are always doing something creative and fun together!
The Adult Sunday School class meets each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. during the school year. Topics for discussion are usually a particular book of the Bible or topical themes (such as prayer). Join this group for lively discussion of how Christianity fulfills our lives in these rapidly changing times.
"First Sunday" Inter-generational Sunday School meets on the first Sunday of each month. St. Paul's is a community of all generations. So, on the first Sunday of each month during the school year, everyone comes together at 9:45 for the Sunday School hour. We begin with a lesson and then usually move into some sort of activity in which everyone can participate.
Wednesday evening Adult Bible Study is a laid back group that has more questions than answers and loves learning together. The group meets for one hour starting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
God's Helping Hands Bible study gathers on the second Thursday of the month at 10:00 am for Bible Study using the magazine Gather, produced by the Women of the ELCA. This group also does various projects throughout the year that show love for people locally and globally. A few examples include making quilts for Lutheran World Relief and making cookies for homebound people in the community.
Confirmation Class is a time of learning and faith formation for St. Paul's youth in the 7th and 8th grades. The class explores the core of the Christian faith from a Lutheran perspective and is geared to engage faith and daily life for teens.
